I apologize for the hiatus, life has been crazy the past couple of weeks. Work has been busy and we unexpectedly remodeled a bathroom thanks to a leaky toilet. Nevertheless, we are back! And in the spirit of the holiday, we’re going to POWER RANK™ some resurrections. Happy Easter friends.
Please keep in mind, it’s all arbitrary.
ALSO SPOILER ALERTS FOR LIKE SO MANY THINGS. There are no spoilers for anything that has come out in the last couple of years, but still.
Emperor Palpatine (Star Wars) - The bottom of the barrel you guys. This was some lazy nonsense to end those Star Wars movies. I don’t care that they are trying to make it make sense via TV shows like The Mandalorian or The Bad Batch, it’s just not a good resurrection. But hey, at least the bad guy didn’t turn to just to be Math, like other annoying Sci-Fi.
Greenwood’s POWER RANKINGS™ - In a way, these POWER RAKNINGS™ died over the last couple of weeks. Life got busy and the thought of not having to write one of these on top of everything else seemed like it had killed the POWER RANKINGS™, but RISING FROM THE DIGITAL NEWSLETTER GRAVE, we are BACK BABY.
Lazarus - I don’t want to pretend like someone coming back from the dead isn’t like a BIG DEAL, but Lazarus wasn’t even the most important one IN THE BIBLE. HE (spoilers for later in this list) GETS BEAT OUT in POWER RANKING™ by another one in THE SAME BOOK YA’LL.
Harry Potter - I’m currently re-reading the HP books, and it’s giving me a distinct feeling that even as late as book 3, JK Rowling still had no idea what was going to happen at the end of these books. Killing your main character is a BALLER move, don’t get me wrong, but bringing them back can sometimes cheapen it all, and that’s what HP feels like for me. We’ll see if my opinion changes when I get there in these re-reads.
Vinyl Records - What better example of a dead medium coming back? There are more VINYL RECORDS than CDs for sale at WalMart now-a-days you guys. Why are these so popular though? I get it, physical media is king, but like, they get dusty and stuff. And GOOD GRACIOUS are new ones expensive. I think these hold a cool nostalgia factor for those of us who are too young to have actually lived with these. They somehow make us feel like we’re living in the good ole days, even though we didn’t initally experience them if that makes sense? Or maybe it’s just that we like the big pictures on the sleeves? Who knows.
All those Avengers that got turned into sand or whatever - I missed out on the hype of those two movies in theatres, but when I did experience them, it was neat. Getting our sweet boy Tom Holland back sure did feel good. Thanks MCU.
Robert Downey Jr’s acting career - Talking about the Avengers reminded me, this dude’s career was OVER. Homie was in prison, and then just won an oscar the other day.
Gandalf - He WAS SENT BACK TO FINISH THE JOB. I know that I’m biased, but I don’t care. Gandalf’s resurrection to save the day will forever bring me chills. He’s too clutch.
Jesus - Obviously. Biggest impact on humanity, literally the reason we have Easter. THE GOAT.
Happy Easter friends.
LOVE YA
TEX TAX - Tex turned two this past week. Enjoy baby Tex.
How could Math be a bad guy?
And on the third week, Greenwood's POWER RANKING™️ rose again.
